MZHF Nursing Excellence Award

The Mount Zion Health Fund (MZHF) Nursing Excellence Awards recognizes nurses (RN, LVN, NP, CRNA) for excellence in nursing practice. The recipient’s contribution to the care of patients at Mount Zion locations demonstrates such exemplary practice as to merit recognition from peers and other professional colleagues.​

Eight recipients will be awarded $1000 each which will be presented annually. The award is sponsored by the Dr. Julius Rosenstirn Scholarship Fund.​

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:​

• Have an active registered nursing license
• Work at least 50% of their time at a UCSF Mount Zion campus location
• Be recognized as a positive role model in their practice area as characterized but not limited to:​
  • Promoting teamwork and collegial working relationships​
  • Demonstrates the ability to share his/her expertise with patients, families or coworkers​
  • Demonstrates insight and compassion​
  • Demonstrates the ability to help patients, families, or coworkers cope with and overcome extraordinary circumstances​
  • Demonstrates outstanding achievements in specialty area as seen through exemplary leadership, mentoring of staff and students, patient education, and enhancing patients’ clinical outcomes through operational improvements
